New Years Goal

The New Year is approaching and everyone is setting New Year’s Resolutions. Do you know that 80-90% of people give up on their resolutions in the first couple of months?

Why is that? Why can’t we keep these resolutions we know we desperately need (otherwise we wouldn’t have made them)?

First of all, let’s not call it a resolution. Let’s call it a goal or set of goals. That sounds sexier, doesn’t it?

Here are my top 3 Simple Tips to make sure you hit your goals this year…

Time Blocking

Just like time management teaches us, if you don’t time block it, then it probably won’t happen. Use a time block system to work on your goals. For instance, I plan my week (one of my goals) and time block it on Sunday before all the madness begins Monday morning.


Write it Down and Look at it Often

If it is out of sight, then it is probably out of mind.  Write down your goals and put them where you will see them every day. You can put them on your mirror or nightstand, or keep them in your pocket. I remember creating 5 big goals for myself and expecting it would take me at least a year to achieve them. I put them on my car dashboard where I could see them every day. Do you know what happened? I hit all of the goals in 6 months – and even hit some within 3!


Get Accountable

You can do this by getting an accountability partner you meet up with weekly or monthly. At the very least, tell a lot of people about your goals. You will eventually get tired of telling people that you did not meet your goal when you see them. When they ask you about your progress, it will help get you back in the saddle. Telling people about your goals will also help imprint them in your mind.
